5 Things To Do Every Night For Your Best Morning
There’s a lot to be said for preparing to have a productive morning. Waking up to complete disarray, no clean underwear, and a pile of last night’s washing up is no way for anyone to start the day – especially busy moms that are desperately looking for a moment of peace.
Here are 5 things to do every night to prepare for your best mornings.
1. The dishes
There’s nothing worse than waking up to a kitchen full of dirty plates and general mess. And if I’m being honest, it’s enough to stop me from getting out of bed at all. I mean, how can we start our feel-good morning routine with all of that sitting a mere few metres away from us… The alternative is doing the dishes as step one of your morning routine – but that will eat into precious time that we would otherwise be spending on ourselves, and we need as much of that as we can get!
So, do the washing up/load the dishwasher before heading to bed, you’ll thank yourself in the morning! (Or better yet, ask someone else to do it…).
2. A quick tidy
Coming downstairs to a scene of calm is so insanely underrated. In fact, if I were to select one thing from this list as being the most important thing to do in preparation for your miracle morning, it would be tidying up. When the living room is home to your morning routine, try to fluff the sofa cushions and pick up the 20 toys that are scattered around the room. Or if the kitchen is your haven, then line up the dining chairs, do the washing up (as mentioned above), and have a quick sweep of the floor.
If you need tidiness to achieve a sense of calm (which I definitely do) you’ll have to tidy at some point – best to do it quickly in the evening so that it doesn’t eat into your precious me-time!
3. Gather everything you need for your morning
Gather everything you need for your miracle morning so that you can jump straight into it and avoid procrastinating. Here are a few things that you might like to prepare the night before:
- Yoga mat
- Running shoes
- Journal
- Meditation cushion
- Earphones
- Laptop
4. Prepare an outfit
Prepare a morning outfit so that you can get dressed without waking anyone up. After all, we all know that this will mark the end of your time alone! Whether your outfit is for running, yoga, or the entire day, get out of your pjs and into something fresh. I promise that it makes it much easier to stay awake and motivated.
5. Turn your phone onto airplane mode
I always turn my phone onto airplane mode before bed and try to keep it that way for as long as possible after waking up. We all know that as soon as you pick your phone up and get sucked into social media, you can kiss goodbye to the next 30 minutes…
Getting out of the habit of checking your phone in the morning is hard. BUT this little trick will help.
