Submission Guidelines
As a publisher which encourages inclusion, creativity, mindfulness and love, we are committed to developing and promoting literary and artistic talent in all its fabulous diversity. It is our goal to share universal wisdom and life lessons through fun, uplifting and quirky stories, as well as nurturing a love of reading by introducing kids to books that open their minds to new ideas and perspectives.
At this time we are focusing on board books, picture books and beginner readers only, ages baby to 8, fiction and nonfiction.
We are looking for illustrators who may not be traditional children’s book illustrators but rather unique and talented artists of all disciplines.

We are considering email submissions only
For illustrators:
We would love to see samples of your work. Using the subject line “Portfolio Submission” and your name, please send us an email at submissions@avabear.love, outlining your professional experience and why you would like to work with us, along with a link to your online portfolio.
For authors:
Send your email to submissions@avabear.love with the subject line "New Submission" and the title of your work.
The body of your email should be your cover letter (not an attachment) and include:
- your full name
- your postal address and phone number
- any previous publishing experience
- word count
- intended age range
- a brief plot summary of your manuscript
...and of course, throw in anything else you would like to tell us!
Board books should be between 16 and 30 pages and no more than 300 words.
Picture books should be between 24 and 48 pages and 200 - 1,200 words long.
Please attach a full draft of your text in PDF format only.
We make every effort to carefully consider each submission we receive. If we are interested in your manuscript, we will respond within 3 months of receiving it.
